Thidarat Chantachua’s mixed media works aim to bridge together the different cultures in this borderless world despite differences in the people’s beliefs, bringing forward the artist’s ideology in a contemporary and universal language.
Chantachua’s semi abstract works take visual cues and foundations from Arabic arts that are closely linked to Islam, which is also the artist’s religion. Islamic art is often characterized by its geometrical patterns; its fundamental concept of Tawhid, monotheism or oneness; and Mizon uniformity and harmony. One of the world’s oldest philosophy of art is brought closer to contemporary audience through the artist’s interpretation.
Chantachua started her artistic career exploring her relationship with her family and her religion. Through her growing experience of traveling and visiting new places, Chantachua’s vision is broadened and has discovered that she is a small individual in this big world. However, through the people that she had met and through her faith, she could pursue her hopes and dreams in the places of different cultures.
Each thread in Thidarat Chantachua’s work was meticulously sewn on to a dark-coloured fabric, typically used to make robes for religious purposes. The lines of strings draw the eyes from one point to another, playing with its colours and gradients, creating the perception of depth and illusions. This is the artist’s way of guiding the audience eyes as though to invite the viewers to begin their journey into her world of fantasy.
The artist greatly believes that through her creations of architectural patterns and repetitions of forms and lines, she is able to meditate and learn to strengthen her mind and soul and sharpen her senses.
Thidarat Chantachua holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is currently studying at the Master of Arts in Fine Art program at Silpakorn University. Chantachua is a Thai artist that has successfully conveyed her artistic ideas despite limitations in techniques and beliefs and has gained acceptance with broad audience. She had consistently won awards and honours and is recently selected to join artist residency program at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan.

On the path of different cultures by Thidarat Chantachua will be open for public viewing from 11th of March 2017 through to 30th of April 2017 with an opening reception on the Saturday 11th of March at 6pm.

ด้ายเส้นบางได้ถูกปักถักขึ้นเป็นงานจิตรกรรมสื่อผสมที่งดงามเพื่อทำหน้าที่เป็นสื่อกลางในการเชื่อมโยงวัฒนธรรมที่กว้างใหญ่ไพศาลให้ไร้พรมแดน โดยข้ามขอบเขตแรงศรัทธาทางศาสนาที่แตกต่างกันของผู้คน ผลงานศิลปะนำเสนอคตินิยมที่เป็นอัตลักษณ์ทางศาสนาให้มีรูปแบบร่วมสมัยเป็นสากล แนวทางของงานศิลปะน่ามหัศจรรย์ที่กล่าวมาข้างต้นนี้คือการสร้างสรรค์ของศิลปินหญิงไทย ธิดารัตน์ จันทเชื้อ

ผลงานกึ่งนามธรรมได้แรงบันดาลใจจากศิลปะอาหรับ แนวทางศิลปะที่ผูกพันกับศาสนาอิสลามที่ศิลปินนับถือ รูปแบบศิลปกรรมชนิดนี้โดดเด่น ด้วยลวดลายเรขาคณิต ที่เป็นไปตามแนวทางของคำสอนทางศาสนา คือ "Tawhid ความเป็นเอกภาพของสรรพสิ่ง "และ " Mizon ความเป็นระเบียบและสมดุล "

ประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะโบราณที่เก่าแก่แขนงหนึ่งของโลก ถูกนำมาตีความใหม่ในมิติที่เข้าถึงได้ง่ายยิ่งขึ้น แรกเริ่มเดิมทีแล้วศิลปินไทยผู้นี้เธอสร้างผลงานจากประสบการณ์การดำเนินชีวิตในสังคมเมืองที่ควบคู่กับวัตรปฏิบัติทางศาสนาของตนเองและครอบครัว แต่แล้วจึงได้ต่อยอดขยายความเติบโตขึ้นไปในบริบทของวัย กับชีวิตที่พลิกผันได้เดินทางไปในพื้นที่ต่างวัฒนธรรม ศิลปินได้เปิดโลกทัศน์แสวงหามุมมองใหม่ และได้พบว่าตัวเธอนั้นเป็นเพียงมนุษย์ตัวน้อยไร้เดียงสาในโลกกว้าง หากแต่ทว่าเธอยังสามารถมีความหวังและความฝันผ่านแรงศรัทธาร่วมที่ได้พบเจอในพื้นที่ต่างวัฒนธรรมนั้นเช่นกัน

เส้นด้ายถูกปักอย่างปราณีตลงบนผ้าพื้นสีเข้ม หรือ ผ้าที่นิยมนำมาเป็นอาภรณ์ทางศาสนา ดึงดูดสายตาด้วยการไล่น้ำหนักเฉดสี
และการจัดวางทิศทางของการปัก ให้เกิดมุมมองของระยะที่ลึกตื้นลวงตา เป็นความชาญฉลาดของศิลปิน ที่นำทางผู้ชมงานให้เสมือนว่าได้กำลังเดินทางเข้าไปในทิวทัศน์ต่างมิติที่ศิลปินจินตนาการขึ้น ศิลปินมีความเชื่อมั่นอย่างยิ่งว่าการสร้างเรื่องราวและสื่อความหมายจากลวดลายวิจิตรของสถาปัตยกรรม สถานที่ทำพิธีกรรมทางศาสนา การทำซ้ำ ของเส้น รูปร่าง รูปทรงที่มีแบบแผน ทั้งหมดนั้นประหนึงเป็นการทำสมาธิฝึกจิตให้แน่วแน่และมั่นคงยิ่งขึ้น พร้อมทั้งเพิ่มพูนสติปัญญาให้แตกฉาน

ธิดารัตน์ จันทเชื้อ จบการศึกษาในระดับปริญญาตรี และ กำลังศึกษาต่อในระดับปริญญาโท คณะจิตรกรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ธิดารัตน์เป็นศิลปินไทยที่มีผลงานโดดเด่น และประสบความสำเร็จในการนำเสนอเรื่องราวที่มีขีดจำกัดทั้งทางศาสนาและเทคนิคสื่อผสมให้ได้รับการยอมรับในวงกว้าง ศิลปินได้รับรางวัลใหญ่ทางศิลปะภายในประเทศเป็นเกียรติประวัติมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง และล่าสุดกับการได้รับคัดเลือกให้เป็นศิลปินในพำนัก ณ พิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะเอเชีย ฟุกุโอกะ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น
